How to fill out a team roster
Fill in the team details
Team name, league, season, and the manager’s phone and email.
Add every player
Uniform number, name, the positions they play, and whether they bat and throw right or left.
Collect contact details
A phone and email for each player, plus someone to call in an emergency.
Keep a copy in the bag
The emergency contacts are only useful if the roster is at the field.
Or skip the clipboard
On DugoutHQ, captains register their team online with their roster size, and players join the team themselves with a shortcode. Contact details stay current because players keep their own, and attendance tracking shows who’s coming before you set the lineup.
Tips
- Check your league’s roster limit and the deadline for adding players before the playoffs.
Captains register the team and players join it with one code. No spreadsheet to chase.

Team Roster Questions
How many players should be on a baseball roster?
Nine take the field, but adult and rec teams usually carry 12 to 18 so they can field a team when people miss games. Your league sets the maximum, so check it before the roster deadline.
What information goes on a team roster?
At minimum: each player’s name, uniform number, positions, phone and email. Add bats/throws if you’ll use it for lineups, and an emergency contact for every player.
