Bracket Questions
Is the bracket generator free?
Yes. Build, print, and share as many brackets as you like without an account. If you want the bracket to advance as scores come in, with a public page for teams, set the tournament up on DugoutHQ, which is also free to run.
What makes this different from a printable bracket?
A bracket tells you who plays whom. A tournament also needs to know which game goes on which diamond at what time. This generator schedules every game into time slots across your diamonds, respecting that a game can’t start until both teams are known, and tells you how long the day will run.
How many games are in a double elimination tournament?
Two for every team, minus two — plus one more if the team from the second-chance side wins the first championship game. An 8-team double elimination tournament is 14 games, or 15 with the if-necessary game.
How do byes and play-in games work?
Single elimination brackets fill out to 4, 8, 16, or 32 teams, so the top seeds get first-round byes. Double elimination brackets here use play-in games instead: the lowest seeds play in to fill the bracket, and losing a play-in drops a team to the second-chance side rather than ending its day.
